The Italian update

Two pieces of fashion industry news caught my eye lately, both from Italian fashion houses. Firstly, the Spring/Summer 2013 Dolce & Gabbana haute couture line called Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda was shown a few days ago in Milan. It was a very private event and not very many images have been released so far; just enough to tease.

It seems that the Dolce & Gabbana couture line has matured wonderfully from their first attempt at haute couture last season. Some of these dresses are pure art!

The second news I wanted to share is a project that Fendi is doing for the city of Rome. Many of Italy's cultural treasures have been in desperate need of restoration and maintenance. It has been announced that Fendi will be funding 2.18 million euros to restore the crumbling Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy, and more will be funded for the restoration of other fountains in the city.

It may sound a bit like a PR stunt, but I think it's also quite wonderful that Fendi is using some of its money for a project like this. Society thrives on technology, science, etc., but I do believe that culture is also invaluable to a sophisticated society. Here's a video on the Fendi project.
